U.S. Banks Are Targets in 60 Percent of Worldwide Phishing Attacks
Phishing Attacks target U.S. institions most, according to the RSA’s Anti-Fraud Command Center.

A new report reveals that 60 percent of all phishing attacks against global banking brands target U.S. institutions. U.K. banks, which are victims in 16 percent of all cases, are the second-most targeted organizations, according to security solutions provider RSA's Anti-Fraud Command Center, which publishes a monthly report on online financial fraud. After the United States and the U.K., the highest number of attacks were reported against Spain (6 percent), Italy (5 percent) and Canada (4 percent).
Despite the perception that organized gangs operating overseas perpetrate most phishing attacks, however, RSA reports that 47 percent of global attacks originate in the U.S. China is the No. 2 source of attacks, at 22 percent.
